Fawning Lolita

January 9th, 2014 (02:37 pm)

I just unearthed a old wardrobe I did a long time ago around the Nordic blue Lotta JSK. All it needed was to be converted to my new standard and voilà! So fawn is the main theme with blue and pink as accent color. Of course, brown is the dark neutral, since this color is softer than black. And finally, white because the Lotta socks had white background.

Brand : Innocent World

Light Neutral : White
Dark Neutral : Brown
Punch Color : Blue and pink

Theme : Fawn

Lolita 52 Weeks Challenge 2: 5 movies for Lolitas

January 9th, 2014 (11:35 am)

Week 2: 5 movies for Lolitas

1. Interview with a Vampire (1994, United States)

I can summarize this whole movie by "Elegant Gothic Aristocrat Vampire Romance". Do I need to say more? Well I can add that the costumes are perfect, as well as the decor and Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas and Kristen Dunst performance (not really convinced by Brad Pitt, sorry Brad). And of course, Ann Rice's Vampire Tales are so perfectly gothic and well writen. You are in for a good movie night.

2. Marie-Antoinette (2006, United States)

This movie is full a pretty dresses, pastel colors, gorgeous decors and sugary cakes! Stunning performance from the actor (Kristen Dunst again), excellent photography, and good music too! Plus, it's one of my favorite time period clothing wise.

3. The Secret Garden (1993, United Kingdom)

To wake up the lifestyle Lolita in you, this movie is all about old British mansion, hidden secrets and gardens! I haven't see it in a while, but from the trailer and my memories it is a heart touching moving full of beauties. And Maggie Smith is perfect as always! I thought of it often when I'm weeding my garden.

4. Sisi (1955, West Germany)

This one is THE Princess movie of my childhood (with the two other Sissi movie, of course). The story is so cute, and again, beautiful dresses, luxurious decors and all. Romy Schneider is amazing. I watch it, some years ago with my boyfriend and he really liked it. I would had never thought it possible. XD

5. Le Fabuleu Destin d'Amélie Poulin (2001, France)

Finaly, I choose Amélie as my last movie. Even though this one is not as strongly Lolita as the others, but I love the way Amélie is living in her fantasy world and live the life she wants to. Finally, no matter how strange she is, she found someone to love her without expecting her to change.

Lolita 52 Weeks Challenge: A Lolita Topic a Week!

January 2nd, 2014 (01:03 am)

Last year, Miss Caro-chan from F Yeah Lolita started a 52 weeks challenge to answer one question every week for an entire year. I did notice it before February, so now that a new year begins, I am getting into it!

Week 1: 5 pieces that every Lolita wardrobe should have, regardless of style

1. A good petticoat
I finaly got myself of good petticoat this year. Focussing on "wardrobe foundation" instead of dream item is not very exciting, but it makes such a difference. Following Fanny Rosie advices on her tumblr, I get myself a chiffon one so it won't deflate.

2. A confortable paire of shoes
Having a pair of shoes that look perfect with your outfit is great, but if you can't follow the group because you are in pain, then it is not great at all. There some great options out there to pamper your feet without sacrificing your look.

3. A jacket or blaser
Perfect to go out in spring and fall, this kind of clothes is also great for a Corporate Lolita look or just to look less casual. It's essential if you only have Lolita clothes in your wardrobe.

4. A printless jumperskirt
Having a plain Lolita dress is good investment. They are perfect to tone down the look and let the spotlight for busy accessories like printed bag or blouse.

5. A combined umbrella and parasol
Perfect to go out and about without having to get a parasol and an umbrella if rain and hot sun are forecast. Even better if your umbrella is foldable and fit in your purse!

Mint Chocolate

November 30th, 2013 (03:33 pm)

While looking for ideas for my next wardrobe, I found an old one I started at the beggining of this blog, but never completed. Inspired with the Blanche skirt form Innocent World, I decided to have mint as a punch color and brown as the dark neutral, completed with beige as light neutral. Since both printed pieces has some crowns in their patterns, I added an umbrella and a bag with featuring them.

Brand : Innocent World

Light Neutral : Beige
Dark Neutral : Brown
Punch Color : Mint

Theme : Crowns

Bloody Angel

November 16th, 2013 (12:49 am)

I know, third wardrobe in a row with wine/pink. I'll change my color palette next time, promise! This time, I choose an angel theme. A lot of Innocent World print feature those god sent messengers. Note that the wings on the shoes can be removed for a more toned down look. Since I took in the angel pearl necklace, I choose accessories with pearl too, to have a link between them.

Brand : Innocent World

Light Neutral : Beige
Dark Neutral : Wine
Punch Color : None

Theme : Angels, pearls

Dusty souvenirs

October 25th, 2013 (09:53 pm)

For this wardrobe, I wanted to do a very soft harmony of colors. I choose low contrast prints and low saturated colors to get a greyish palette and subtle effect.

Brand : Victorian Maiden

Light Neutral : Grey and beige
Dark Neutral : Dusty purple
Punch Color : Dusty Pink

Theme : Classic in dusty colors

Gothic Charms

October 14th, 2013 (09:50 pm)

So, I just noticed that I didn't post any Gothic Lolita wardrobe until now. So I took the opportunity of Innocent World releasing a lot of more Gothic print and did one. As you can see, I used black as the dark neutral and wine as the punch color. I ended with touches of beige from main pieces and accessories. Of courses, crosses and architectural details are a must!

Dark Neutral : Black
Punch Color : Wine

Victorian Maiden in black and beige

October 6th, 2013 (09:40 pm)

Let's get some brand diversity even though Innocent World do a lot of pretty things. I made this wardrobe out of Victorian Maiden items. I used the Regimental Stripe Bag as a starting point, then add items with the same print, and then items with black and beige and finally, plain black or plain beige. The end result is a nearly corporate Classic Lolita wardrobe.

Brand : Victorian Maiden

Light Neutral : Beige
Dark Neutral : Black
Punch Color : None

Theme : Black and beige

Yellow roses for a classic Lolita

September 29th, 2013 (08:26 am)

So, during last Innocent World winter sale, I noticed an unusual amount of items having yellows as main or accent colors, so i tried doing a Lolita wardrobe base on them. My starting point was the Rose Marine Tote Bag, so I naturally added Navy to the palette. Then I added the Elisabeth Rose Dress, so some brown was required. And then, beige as a light neutral, since both prints has it as their ground color, and voilà!

Brand : Innocent World

Light Neutral : Beige
Dark Neutral : Navy and brown
Punch Color : Yellow

Theme : Roses
